hello/aloha

Language of the Birds is a print driven brand founded in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. Our current studio is a barn in Upstate New York. Sustainability and aloha are the heart of our manufacturing approach. We design all our prints and provide radical transparency in our production.

We support a MTO (made to order) and limited batch production model. We make most of our apparel in our studio or work with small US factories and local individual sewers. For some items we work with non US based manufacturers. Manufacture origin is described on each product page.

There is no such thing as a perfectly made item. Creation is by necessity a messy and wasteful affair. We try and meet the trifecta of necessity, material considerations and workforce to achieve a sustainable and ethical product.

Our prints are in collection at the RISD Museum.
