Language of the Birds is a US based print house established in 2014 in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. 

Language believes aloha prints are central to American print design but rarely acknowledged as such. Language loves the humble novelty print, and is both a brand that makes a beautiful dress and a post colonial textile critique.

Known for its painstakingly research patterns and exuberant use of color, Language mainly focuses on apparel prints. The studio takes a slow and stubborn approach to design where individual patterns may undergo years of development before being released.

Our entire print library is 
in collection at the RISD Museum. 

Like a story book, we began in a cottage in the back of Manoa Valley. Our current studio is a barn in Upstate NY.
